The Allen-Bradley 1756-L71 GuardLogix 5570 is a high-performance programmable automation controller designed for integrated standard and safety control within the ControlLogix platform. This controller combines standard automation logic and functional safety in a single architecture, allowing both applications to execute within the same chassis while remaining logically independent. The conformal coating provides enhanced protection against corrosive atmospheres, meeting Severity Level G3 per ANSI/ISA 71.04-2013 and Severity Level C4 per IEC 60721-3-5:2018.

Installation Guidelines

  • The controller installs into any slot of a 1756 ControlLogix chassis.
  • Use the provided plastic keying system to prevent incorrect module placement in the chassis.
  • Ensure the Energy Storage Module (ESM) is properly seated; the controller does not use traditional batteries.
  • When using an SD card for non-volatile storage, insert with the beveled corner facing up and contacts on the right until it clicks.
  • Maintain proper ventilation within the cabinet to stay within the 0 to 60 degC operating range.
  • Always power down the chassis before inserting or removing the controller module to prevent electrical damage.
