Product Description

The 3500/22M (146031-02) is a high-performance Transient Data Interface (TDI) for the 3500 Machinery Protection System by Bently Nevada.

This variant features 100Base-FX fiber-optic connectivity, delivering superior noise immunity and extended transmission distances compared to copper Ethernet models. Acting as the central communication hub of the 3500 rack, it combines Rack Interface Module (RIM) management functions with high-speed transient data acquisition.

The module captures detailed steady-state and transient waveform data, enabling precise diagnostics during machine startup, shutdown, alarm events, and other dynamic operating conditions.

Application

The 3500/22M (146031-02) is ideal for installations where:

  • The monitoring rack is located far from the diagnostic server

  • High electromagnetic interference (EMI) is present

  • Ground loop prevention is critical

  • Long-distance, high-integrity data transmission is required

It is commonly deployed in:

  • Large-scale power generation plants

  • Offshore oil & gas platforms

  • Heavy industrial compressor stations

Fiber-optic communication ensures reliable transmission of turbine and compressor health data without signal degradation.

Technical FAQ

Q1: Why choose the 146031-02 over the standard 288055-01 module?

A: The 146031-02 uses 100Base-FX fiber-optic communication, while the 288055-01 utilizes copper RJ45 Ethernet. Fiber is preferred for long cable runs, eliminating ground loops, and maintaining data integrity in electrically noisy environments.

Q2: Is this module hot-swappable?

A: Although the 3500 rack architecture is robust, the TDI module manages rack communication. Replacement should only be performed when the rack is properly bypassed or when the machine is not in a critical operational state to avoid loss of system configuration communication.
