Product Description

The 8C-PDIS01 is a high-performance Sequence of Events (SOE) digital input module designed for the Honeywell Experion PKS Series 8. Unlike standard digital input modules, it captures and records input state changes with millisecond-level precision. With a 1 ms timestamp resolution, it enables detailed post-event analysis and accurate root-cause determination in complex industrial processes.

The module features 16 isolated channels, each capable of monitoring 24 VDC signals from safety-critical field devices. It incorporates advanced signal conditioning to filter electrical noise while maintaining high-speed detection performance. Built with a vertical Series 8 form factor, it optimizes heat dissipation and cabinet space utilization. Its 2500 Vrms galvanic isolation ensures strong protection between field wiring and the control system, enhancing reliability and safety.

Application Scenarios

The 8C-PDIS01 is primarily used in safety and critical event monitoring systems within industries such as:

  • Power generation plants

  • Oil and gas refineries

  • Chemical processing facilities

Typical applications include:

  • Monitoring turbine trip signals

  • Tracking compressor interlocks

  • Capturing emergency shutdown (ESD) events

It plays a key role in Sequence of Events (SOE) logging, helping operators reconstruct the exact order of events that led to a system trip or shutdown, which is critical for troubleshooting and compliance.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the benefit of using an SOE module over a standard DI module?
A: A standard digital input module samples signals at the controller scan rate (e.g., tens of milliseconds), while the 8C-PDIS01 timestamps each event at the module level with 1 ms resolution. This ensures precise sequencing of rapidly occurring events, which is essential for accurate diagnostics and incident analysis.
