Description

The Bently Nevada 330101-00-28-20-02-CN is an 8 mm proximity probe from the 3300 XL series. Designed for use within the 3300 XL Proximity Transducer System, this probe provides high-accuracy, non-contact measurement of shaft vibration and position in rotating machinery. It is fully compliant with API 670 standards for mechanical configuration, linear range, and temperature stability, ensuring reliable performance in demanding industrial environments.

Features

  • 8 mm probe diameter for standard eddy current sensing applications.
  • Miniature coaxial ClickLoc connector for secure, reliable signal transmission.
  • Full interchangeability with other 3300 XL system components, eliminating the need for individual component bench calibration.
  • Designed for high immunity to radio frequency interference (RFI) and electromagnetic interference (EMI).
  • Hazardous area approvals including CSA, ATEX, and IECEx.

Applications

  • Gas & Steam Turbines: Monitoring radial vibration and axial thrust to prevent rotor-stator contact.
  • Centrifugal & Axial Compressors: Ensuring precise shaft stability for process gas and refrigeration systems.
  • Large Industrial Pumps: Monitoring boiler feed pumps and high-pressure fluid systems.
  • Electric Motors & Generators: Supporting large sleeve-bearing units in power generation.
  • Gearboxes: Monitoring shaft eccentricity and misalignment in high-speed gear assemblies.

Installation Guidelines

  • Mounting: Thread the probe into the mounting bracket or machine housing until the tip lightly touches the target surface.
  • Gapping: Retract the probe to the required gap. A standard radial vibration gap is approximately 1.27 mm (50 mils), typically corresponding to a -9 Vdc output.
  • Locking: Once the gap is set, tighten the lock nut to a recommended torque of 68 N·m (50 ft·lb). Do not exceed 163 N·m (120 ft·lb).
  • Handling: Ensure the coaxial cable is routed away from high-voltage lines to minimize noise interference. Handle the probe tip with care to avoid damage to the sensing surface.

FAQ

What are the main applications for this probe?

This probe is primarily used for vibration and position monitoring on fluid-film bearing machines such as turbines, pumps, and compressors to facilitate fault diagnosis and condition monitoring.

How does the 3300 XL system handle electrical interference?

The system is engineered with high immunity to RFI and EMI, allowing it to be installed in non-metallic housings without the requirement for additional specialized shielding.

Is this probe compatible with older 3300 series components?

Yes, each 3300 XL transducer system component is backward compatible and interchangeable with other non-XL 3300 series 5 mm and 8 mm transducer system components.
