Product Description

The 3500/32 (125720-01) is a high-integrity 4-channel relay I/O module designed for the 3500 Machinery Protection System developed by Bently Nevada. This module provides the physical relay contacts required to execute emergency shutdown commands and activate local or remote alarm systems in critical machine protection applications.

Unlike high-density relay output modules, the 125720-01 is optimized for localized high-current switching and hard-wired interlock protection logic. Each relay channel can be independently programmed using 3500 Rack Configuration Software to respond to complex AND / OR voting logic conditions derived from any monitor module within the protection rack.

To ensure long-term reliability in harsh industrial environments, each relay channel is epoxy-sealed and protected with 250 Vrms arc suppression components, reducing contact wear during inductive load switching. The module also includes onboard configuration switches that allow selection between Normally Energized (fail-safe) and Normally De-energized relay operation on a per-channel basis.

Application Scenarios

The 3500/32 (125720-01) is widely used in:

  • Power generation turbine protection systems

  • Oil and gas processing facilities

  • Petrochemical and chemical plants

  • Compressor and large motor protection systems

Typical applications include driving:

  • Fuel shutoff solenoids

  • Motor starter interlocks

  • Emergency shutdown (ESD) circuits

  • Local annunciator alarm panels

The module can be installed in any rack slot located to the right of the Rack Interface Module (RIM), making it highly flexible for system expansion.

Technical FAQ

Can I configure relays to trip only when two sensors alarm simultaneously?
Yes. The module supports AND logic voting, allowing a relay to activate only when multiple sensor channels simultaneously reach danger alarm thresholds.

How do the LED indicators help with troubleshooting?

  • OK LED — Confirms module internal health

  • TX/RX LED — Verifies backplane communication integrity

  • Channel Alarm LEDs — Provide visual confirmation when a relay output is activated
