Description

The Bently Nevada 135489-01 is an I/O module designed for the 3500 series machinery protection system. This specific module features internal barriers, providing intrinsically safe signal conditioning for four channels of Proximitor or seismic (accelerometer) transducers. It is engineered to interface directly with the 3500/42M Proximitor/Seismic monitor, facilitating the continuous monitoring of vibration and position parameters in critical rotating and reciprocating machinery.

Features

  • 4-channel input capacity for proximity and seismic vibration transducers.
  • Integrated internal barriers for hazardous area applications.
  • Internal terminations for simplified field wiring.
  • 16-bit ADC resolution for high-precision signal conditioning.
  • Compatible with Proximitor sensors and accelerometers.

Applications

  • Reciprocating Compressors: Monitoring crankcase and crosshead vibration for early failure detection.
  • Turbine Monitoring: Bearing and stator winding vibration analysis.
  • Oil and Gas: Gas compression and pipeline station reliability.
  • Chemical/Petrochemical: Monitoring of critical rotating equipment in hazardous environments.

Technical Specifications

Parameter Specification

Installation Guidelines

  • Slot Positioning: The 135489-01 must be installed in the rear of the 3500 rack, directly behind its corresponding 3500/42M main module.
  • Rack Depth: Internal Barrier I/O modules are deeper than standard modules; ensure your cabinet has at least 50mm (2 in) of additional clearance.
  • Wiring Separation: Maintain a minimum 50mm separation between safe area wiring and hazardous area field wiring. It is recommended to route hazardous field wiring above the rack and safe wiring below.
  • Handling: Ensure proper ESD precautions are taken when handling the module. Always power down the rack before inserting or removing any module.

FAQ

What is the 135489-01?

It is a Bently Nevada 3500 series I/O module equipped with internal barriers, designed to provide intrinsically safe signal conditioning for up to 4 channels of vibration or proximity sensors.

What is the primary function of this module?

The module conditions input signals from transducers, converts them into digital values, and compares these values against user-programmed alert and danger setpoints to protect critical machinery.
