The 8290-048 is a high-accuracy load sensing module developed by Woodward, Inc. for kW measurement and load-sharing applications in synchronous generator systems.

The module converts electrical measurements from Potential Transformers (PT) and Current Transformers (CT) into a proportional DC output signal used by speed governors to maintain balanced load distribution across multiple generators or during utility grid connection. This helps prevent engine overloading and ensures stable power quality in parallel operation systems.

Its rugged analog design provides reliable performance in harsh industrial environments such as marine power systems, mining sites, and distributed generation plants.

No. It only measures real power (kW). Reactive power requires AVR or dedicated kVAR control systems.

Can it be used on 480V systems?
