Product Description

The SPBLK01 is a blank faceplate accessory designed for use in ABB Harmony and Symphony Plus (formerly Bailey INFI 90) rack systems. Its primary purpose is to cover unused module slots, preserving proper airflow, cabinet integrity, and operational safety within control system enclosures.

By sealing vacant slots, the SPBLK01 prevents airflow bypass (“short-circuiting”) in forced-air–cooled racks, ensuring cooling air is directed across active controllers and I/O modules as intended. In addition, it protects the system backplane from dust ingress, debris, and accidental contact with energized components, while maintaining a clean, professional cabinet appearance.

Technical Clarification
The SPBLK01 is a purely passive mechanical component. It contains no electronics, no circuitry, and no batteries. Any references to lithium cells or electrical specifications associated with this part number in generic databases are incorrect.

Installation & Utility

The SPBLK01 is a standard maintenance and system-integrity component used during:

  • System expansions

  • Temporary module removal for repair or testing

  • Partial rack population during phased commissioning

Installation is straightforward and requires only standard rack mounting screws. Once installed, the faceplate restores airflow discipline and environmental protection immediately.

FAQ

Why is a blank faceplate important in a DCS rack?
In forced-air cooled systems, open slots allow air to escape before passing over active modules. The SPBLK01 ensures cooling air flows correctly across heat-generating components, protecting long-term reliability.

Does the SPBLK01 include mounting hardware?
The faceplate is pre-drilled to standard Harmony Rack dimensions. Mounting screws are typically supplied with the rack or cabinet, not the faceplate itself.

Does this part require configuration or maintenance?
No. The SPBLK01 is a passive mechanical accessory and requires no configuration, calibration, or periodic servicing.
