The ABB SPAU 140 C is a high-precision numerical synchro-check relay designed to supervise the safe interconnection of two independent AC power systems. Using a microprocessor-based measurement and logic platform, the relay ensures that voltage magnitude, frequency, and phase angle are all within permissible limits before permitting a breaker close command. This prevents out-of-phase switching events that can cause severe mechanical stress, torque shock, and electrical transients in generators, transformers, and switchgear.
